Burgenland has around 15,000 hectares, and is therefore the second largest wine-growing region in Austria. The region is cultivated by about 9,000 wineries and winemakers. The Burgenland region has a very high proportion of red wine: more than 35% of the total vineyard area of Burgenland accounts for red wine production. The wine region of Burgenland is divided into four wine regions: Lake Neusiedl Neusiedl-hill country, Central Burgenland.and Southern Burgenland.
